Missing in Action

Hello,

I have been pretty busy with the family and have to say I am exhausted. My children begged to stay home today, imagine that! So we did, and enjoyed our home and it's surroundings. I sat down last night to craft, and I found it really difficult. I have a couple of ideas, and other things I am working on, but first, here is my take on Whiff of Joy's Sketch Challenge #60. Instead of my typical bows, I played around with my buttons and ribbons. What are you working on right now?

This is one of my favorite papers! They are shimmery, and pretty thick as far as design paper goes. I hope to have more to show you soon. Oh and be sure to head over to Practical Scrappers too, they want to see your Winter Projects.

Hugs,
Tanya

Button-Up with The Pixie Cottage

"Button-Up" is this weeks challenge over at The Pixie Cottage. I was invited to be a guest designer during December, and I have enjoyed each and every moment. Thank You Michelle and all the other Pixies, it has been my pleasure working with such talented women.

The red buttons for this one came off a Christmas ornament, as I could not find any in my craft bin, nor could my neighbor. I just did not want to go out in the cold, so as a result I am going to fix the ornament tonight with the green ones I did find. I do apologize for the threading in the corner, I will have to fix this before it is gifted.

'Tis the Season so be sure to let the ladies at Practical Scrappers see your work.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you,
Hugs
Tanya

P.S. I used Mojo Monday Sketch #118 for this card.

My last batch

This is the weekend to get all the remaining cards in the mail. I started these in the summer, and just finished them Thursday night. I attempted to stitch on them but found it looked cluttered. Simple is sometimes better, and these are the finished products.
Have a great Sunday,

Fancy Folding for The Pixie Cottage

The Pixie Cottage's Saturday Showcase is all about Fancy Folds. I found this pattern called a "Joy Fold" and had to try it out as it was perfect for the gift card my daughter was giving her teacher. The image is yet another wonderful Pixie Cottage Stamp found exclusively at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

Karlye ended up writing her own message in the green cardstock area and she also drew a picture for her teacher. I was in such a rush to get her to school that I did not get the chance to take new pictures. But I can tell you she was proud.

Have a happy and serene Saturday,
Hugs

My Second 12x12 Layout

I showed you my first 12x12 layout last week I believe, and now I am happy to add this to my daughter's book. We went to Marineland this summer, and both my girls favorite thing was feeding Bambi! As you can see by their smiles!

This is another layout provided by Ann-Katrin over at Practical Scrappers. They post a sketch every Friday ladies, and you have the whole month to tackle them and enter your takes on them. That is great for me because I am still having issues with all the space a 12x12 page has.

Please feel free to make suggestions as to what I could do differently next time?

Have a great evening,

Frames

Hello, these were the finished frames Karlye and I made for her friends to put in the loot bags. We painted them together, glazed them, and put jems on them. We took a picture at the party, and my husband ran over to the grocery store to develop them. Each child got a prince or princess, and a frame with a group picture in it to remember the fun they had. One mother called to say her son LOVED his picture so much that he ran up to his room to put it on his dresser.
Off to go wrap some presents!

Got my Mojo Finished

Hello,

Today is party day for Karlye, she has been up three days in a row at 5:45 am! She is simply too excited, and I need more coffee as I can not keep up with her excitement.
Here is my creation for this weeks Mojo Monday 116 Challenge. I asked my husband if a sentiment would be better, or the dangling snowflake, well he chose the snowflake, and as a result, I fought to get this attached properly. I had to redo my bow 3 times, and struggle with the o-rings(losing two of them in the carpet). But it is done now, and I think he made the right choice.
Off now to get the girls dance floor put in the basement, for a quick climb on the elliptical, and then off to the party with my girls.
Have a great Sunday,
Hugs,
Tanya

Getting those Christmas cards finished?

Happy Saturday,
WOJ wants us to add sparkle to our creations for challenge #58 , does mine sparkle enough girls? I also used CPS Sketch #145 for this, cutting out the poinsettia, putting my red sparkly star in the middle to add dimension, and finishing it off by placing Willow in the center. I entertained the thought of putting a sentiment on it, but could not find a place on the card that did not make it look overdone. This is the end result, I will put the sentiment inside.

I am behind on my cards, are you? I may have to send out a couple of store bought cards, **GASP**, are any of you in the same boat as me?
Hugs

I am so excited.......

Hello,

The girls had such a busy day, Karly got up at 5:45 this morning very excited to be 5. She went to school and got to wear the crown, and proceeded to wear it all day to. She then had to fast from 10am to 3pm, as she was at CHEO getting an ultrasound. She was brave and all things looked good. She was so tuckered out that she barely made it through dinner at the restaurant. She requested spaghetti, and managed to eat most of it, but all the while she kept asking to go home and go to bed. Both girls fell asleep in the car, and now I am on the computer, briefly, before I go re-decorate the tree with my husband.

I got an email today asking me to be on the Design Team for Practical Scrappers! I am just so excited. Since Kim introduced me to their blog, I have been hooked. They are all about getting us to use what we have in our craft room. They also have sketch challenges, such as the one I used for my very first 12x12 scrapbook page. I hope you all visit, and participate, I can promise you that some of your old dusty supplies will be put to use.

Have a great evening,
Hugs,
Tanya

A Sketch Challenge at The Pixie Cottage

Once upon a Wednesday the Pixies came out to play, be sure to visit they want you to join in the fun! The Pixie Cottage Challenge this week is a wonderful sketch, the above is my take on it. I just love this Pixie Cottage Santa Stamp, available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

How many of you are addicted to using liquid applique? I have to say the first time I used it I let it dry on its own, and it did not puff up. I was so disappointed, so I took out my heat gun, as I read this can quicken the drying time, and voila, it puffed out. I am now hooked.

I would really love to see what you all come up with for this sketch, I will be sure to check out your posts over at The Pixie Cottage.

Hugs
Tanya

P.S. Why not use a Christmas Theme using the sketch, Practical Scrappers is looking forward to seeing all your Christmas creations this week.

Warm Thoughts

I hope you are all keeping warm today as it is slowly getting colder. Here is my creation using Whiff of Joy's Sketch by Marga. Red Cardinals are on of my favorite birds. Anything but a card

Good Morning, today's Saturday Showcase for the Pixie Cottage is to create something that is "Anything but a card". I found this wreathe at the dollar store, and just had to have it. I then gathered up all the acorns my daughters picked up over various outdoor excursions, some fabric leaves and flowers, and glued them on. I took out my chunky black glitter and added it to the pine cone and the tips of the wreathe.
I simply adore The South End Girls line by Andrea T Seiler, so I took my girl out, inked her, and applied my colour. Adding some bling and popping out her dress to make her look pretty.
I am in denial about Christmas being around the corner, hence the fall theme. I have her on my wall now, and I think she is just so pretty.
You can find this stamp at Michelle's Scrapbooking & More, feel free to go on over and look at all the other wonderful Pixie Cottage Stamps. I am sure you will find several to put on your wish list.
Have a great Saturday,
Hugs

Very First 12x12 Layout

This layout is my very first 12x12 layout. I have done 8x8 and 8 1/2 x 11 layouts but never this big. I saw the layout sketch over at Practical Scrappers, and just had to give it a shot. It is rather hard to photograph layouts with pictures on them, something I am going to have to practice.
I stitched, coloured, stamped, and distressed for this one. Using materials that have been sitting around for far too long, which makes me feel good. They have not been wasted, oh and the y in pretty really looks like a v but I promise it was a y. LOL.

Hope you like it, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to improve this, or simply how to work with such a big canvas.

Hugs
Tanya
