Happy Halloween and a Winner!

Happy Halloween everyone,

Karlye chose her own outfit, she is Morticia Adams from "The Adams Family" movies, I think that is very creative for an almost 5 year old. Jayme played it safe, she is a cat. They are out collecting candy, and I am at the door handing it out. What a good time to announce the blog winner.

My daughters got to pick the winner out of a trick or treat bag, and as you can see Kim from http://memoriesinthyme.blogspot.com has won.

Please send me the address you would like your goodies sent to my email address is ruddtanya@gmail.com

Congratulations, we hope you enjoy your treats!

Have a great evening, can you believe it is November 1st tomorrow!

Hugs

Playing with Paper

Hello Ladies,

Here is my creation for the WOJ Challenge #53. We were asked to use Red, Creme and one other colour of our choice. As you can see, mine was blue. I also used the Mojo Monday Week# 110 sketch. For this card, I actually put stuffing in the paper and stitched it to make it look like a quilt. This is one puffy card! It is my first attempt at this, another crazy idea of mine.

I got my Winter WOJ set in the mail, and they sent along a thank you stamp with it. Is this mouse not the cutest! Thank you Katharina. Keep your eyes open, sometime in November I may just have a little WOJ sweetness for you.

I will post the winner of my blog candy tonight. My girls want to pull the names out of a hat, and I will take their picture all dressed up for Halloween holding the winners name. It is very rainy today so I think I will bring them to the local Mall, they have a Halloween event and they can stay warm and dry and not have to hide their costume under a bulky coat. One of the things we have to do living in Ottawa! :)

The Gift of Giving...More Blog Candy

This Post is now closed, the winner will be announced this evening. Thank you all who left a comment. Happy Halloween!

Did you know that Scrappin' Great Deals, a terrific on-line store, carries Greeting Farm, Gel-a-tins, and the new line of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps? Those are just a few, not to mention her Copic selection and her Spellbinders.

Sheila is friendly, warm, extremely generous, and she has gifted me with two $10 gift certificates for her on-line store. I have added some other goodies to go along with them, to make this all the more sweet.

Leave me a comment, letting me know what you have on your "Wish List", and I will randomly pick a winner on October 30th. Be sure to check out Scrappin' Great Deals. You will want to sign up for her newsletter, Sheila sends out weekly sales information with weekly coupon codes! Oh so tempting I may add. This week's Great Deal was %40 off all in-stock embellishments! The blue logo above will take you right there.

Enjoy,
Tanya

Pixie Cottage Blog Candy

The Pixie Cottage wants to know what your favorite stamp is in the collection above. Be sure to drop on in and you could actually win all of them! Woohoo, are they not the best! Don't forget to check out the Once Upon a Wednesday page for the latest challenge.

I have to say I love the reindeer, maybe because my daughters love them so much. The two of them fight over the colouring book pages that have reindeer on them! Who would not want to colour him and pop up that nose! LOL

Have a great Friday,

Hugs,
Tanya

Ask for a Smile, and I get a Pout

Hello,

I was tackling Kathy's Sketch over at The Sugar Bowl, when I remembered the Punch Challenge over at Practical Scrappers. So I combined the two. Instead of making a card, I took a photo out of my stash, rotated the sketch and created this 8x8 layout. Little Miss Attitude, and my daughter are two peas in a pod!

I do not like my writing, which is why my layouts rarely have writing on them. I take a journalling card and attach it to the back of the layout, this one will tell my daughter just how much I tried to get her to smile this summer in her pretty purple dress, but all I could get was a pout.

I best be going, I am on lunch break. My two girls are eating soup, and I am trying to keep my youngest daughter's fever down. So far so good, but we are all just about to take a nap.

Hugs,
Tanya
P.S Thanks Kim for getting me in the mood to Scrap again! :)
P.P.S Punches for this project were SU scalloped circle punch, SU circle punch and Tonic Studios flower punch

My First Attempt with a PWCO Sketch

Hello,

This is my first attempt at using a PWCO Sketch (SS#7) The card was to measure 6″x3″ and have panels that were 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″. I turned the sketch sideways, but kept with the measurements.

I do not own any PWCO stamps so I used the doodlefactory jungle background and my Penny Black stamps, I then coloured them in with my Prisma Pencils. I have to say I will most likely never cut the monkeys out again, the tails are insane to cut!

I embossed the green cardstock, stitched a bit on the DP and put it all together. I will have to try to go to bed now, my little one is coughing a lot and I have a feeling I will be up most of the night with her.

Hugs to you all,

Tanya

Doodlee Doodle Doodlefactory!

Hello and Hoppy Monday,

This is a card I created using a sketch I found on the 2Sketches 4 You blog. They are looking for DT members, so hop on over if you wish to apply!

Let me start off by saying this was one tough sketch! It took me a while to get what I was going to do with it. I had the sentiment stuck in my mind (don't ask me why), so I grabbed my Doodlefactory Frog and Princess, and started colouring. My magnetic snaps were sitting on my desk, calling my name, so I put one in the frog, and one behind the little butterfly, and voila! The frog hops into position for a Kiss!

I figure when one of my sisters goes through a heartbreak, I can send them this card. They are 15 and 13 so I am sure in the next year or so this may be a possibility! LOL

Have a great day,

Hugs,
Tanya

Punch Drunk and Laura's Sketch

Happy Saturday,

My girls are playing downstairs with a friend, my husband is working in the basement keeping an eye on them, I am working on dinner and posting this.

The Farm Fresh Friday challenge was to use a minimum of 2 punches. I used 4 punches for this card; the circle and the spiral being the obvious. I also used my square punch to make the presents and the scalloped circle punch to make the bows. I had so much fun with this, I am "Punch Drunk"!

I used Laura's Sketch which can be found over at 2Sketches4You. They have a DT call out for a 3 month term. If you are interested check them out, if not drop on over anyways to see the wonderful sketches they have posted. I so love sketches!

I have to say I think I am happy with this one. I even did the interior, something I've always admired about Rach's creations. Thank you for the inspiration Rach.

Tanya

Practicing with Pastels

I am not very good at using pastels, but I figure, if I practice, maybe it will come to me. The above was created for the WOJ Challenge #52 . Thank you Heather, this was a fun sketch to work with. I loved using my punch to lace the ribbon through the scalloped shapes.

As you can see, I used Willow, from the summer set. The apples and one of the strawberries are puffed up, but this can not be seen very easily with the angle of the picture I took.

Have a great Friday everyone, we are off to get the girls Halloween costumes tomorrow. They are pretty excited. One wants to be a pink cat, the other a mermaid. Although this may change once we get to the store.

Hugs,

Tanya

Tuesday Trigger

Moxie Fab World wants to know what triggers us to create. Kim stitched her card, and the way she did it, along with the squares, reminded me of a quilt. I am looking for one at the moment for my daughter Karlye. I surf the web occasionally to see what is out there, and the above quilt is one that would perfect for her. Her favorite colours are red and pink. So although this does not have the same colour scheme, Kim's trigger indirectly led me to create the above.

I had paper in my stash that reminded me of the colours and the flowers of the quilt, so I grabbed her wooden monogram K , and the mod podge. I then started adding embellishments to it. I used my "monogram K" stamp set from CTMH to apply the words, and last, but not least, I put a WOJ summer Willow on it as she so reminds me of Karlye.

I hope she likes it, it will be going up on her wall tomorrow. Isn't it amazing where we can find triggers, or rather inspiration.

Have a good night,

Hugs,
Tanya

P.S Be sure to check out the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab, they would love to hear what yours is!

Mystery Monday with Ruffles

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

Here is my card for the Mystery Monday Challenge, over at Club Anya. The requirements were to use a sketch, 1 design paper, a patterned ribbon, at least 3 colours of cardstock, and to make is SPARKLE.

The sketch I used was from Mojo Monday #109. Here is my dilemma, my design paper is actually DCWV carsdstock. So does that count as 1 design paper with 3 colours? I did add plain carsdstock in 3 colours directly behind Miss Anya, but I don't know if this will be accepted as the design paper is in 3 different patterns. Sigh, only I could confuse simple requirements.

The sparkle was straight forward, I added sparkle to the stick pins, her hat, and of course her shoes. The design paper has plenty of sparkle too. Is it me, or do you have trouble getting the sparkle to show up in the pictures?

Last but not least, I added some ruffles to the card, the look was pleasing to the eye the last time so I attempted it again. Moxie Fab has a challenge out too, asking us to put ruffles on a project. Why not give it a shot. Simply click on Moxie Fab, and you will be directed over to the site.

Have a great day,

Hugs,
Tanya

Multitasking

This card was created for 3 reasons. The first being to welcome Alison's baby Sam into this world, he will be blessed by many of us crafting women with a memory box of wonderful cards. Katharina was really sweet to ask us to do this. I made the card a masculine one, as Sam is a boy. Most of us forget the Father's excitement, so I wanted to be sure to include him in this card, thus the reason behind the father paper. I wish them all the best in their new adventure.

The second reason was for Whiff of Joy's Challenge #51, the requirement being a WOJ stamp and Die Cuts, as you can see the buttons are made from my Sizzix die cut, made to match the design paper.

The third reason was for the first Pixie Cottage Challenge. This sketch was provided, and I just had to use my Pixie Cottage "The Dock" stamp. I had a blast making this, as I was doing so with a bunch of wonderful women today. Like an old crafting circle, we talked, ate and stamped. Definitely good for the soul.

I should go spend the rest of the night with my family. Have a wonderful evening,

Hugs,

Tanya

My Fingers in The Sugar Bowl

Hello, Happy Friday!

We just picked up our new car! We finally have 2, something that makes getting to and from ballet classes, doctors appointments and groceries all the more easier!

Did you notice anything new above? GREEN THREAD! I am so excited I just have to buy more colours. Thank you Mom for giving me your old sewing machine, I am having a blast.

This sketch was from The Sugar Bowl Challenge # 212, thank you Tiet for a wonderful sketch. I had a lot of fun with it. I mixed up the paper, using various patterns. At first I did not think they would blend but the overall result, not to bad. I used an embossing pen for the first time to add glitter powder to the wand, shoes and wings. I thought the Pink Paislee rub-on was neat, I will personalize this card later, when I know who the receiver is, until then it goes in my Christmas pile.

If any of you can provide a bit of constructive criticism, I would love to hear what you think I should have done differently. I know for me, I think the yellow is a bit to bright. I will change that next time.

Have a great evening,

Hugs,

Tanya

A Card Request

A co-worker asked me to make a card for a friend. She is having her first baby and does not know the gender. I tried to mix greens and yellows, but ended up with white and yellow. It just seemed more delicate. She wanted something pretty, I hope this fits the requirements.

More posts tomorrow,

Have a great night, and don't forget to check out Club Anya's Blog Hop today.

Hugs,

Tanya

Good Morning Ladies,

I wanted you all to know that this was actually pretty hard for me. You are all such sweet people, and if I could, all of you would have won. However, only one person can be the winner, so here is how I went about choosing. I assigned a number to each comment, except when asked not to, and any secondary comments. New Beginning Challenge

We were asked to create a card using Anya or Ian that symbolized a "New Beginning". Well this is my creation using Mojo Monday #108 as the sketch.

The reason I chose Teacher Anya, was due to the fact that this was one of my very first Greeting Farm stamps. I bought her to create a card for my daughters JK teacher. My daughter was one of the youngest in her class, due to a December birthday, and so when she started school in 2008, it was a huge deal for me. Nothing stays the same with children, they simply grow up too fast. This was her "New Beginning".

There is another side to this card as well. I majored in Englishes and Arts in High School. When I graduated I thought I wanted to be an Interior Architect. This did not pan out for me, so I returned to Adult High School, and re-did all my maths and sciences. I entered into the Biochemical Technologist program, and to this day I work in the science field. It was a "New Beginning" for me.

Have a good evening everyone, talk with you tomorrow.

Hugs,

Tanya

You Shine

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians, I hope everyone is surrounded by loved ones today. My little ones are taking a quick nap, they will be staying up a bit late tonight as we are at the In-Laws.

This means 9 kids ranging from ages 2 through 9, running around jumping up and down, playing. I was in charge of desert for them, do you think I will be in the bad books with their parents! All that yummy sugary sweetness. I even got my Mothers icing recipe instead of buying it from the store.

The card above is something I created after seeing the Club Anya:You're a Star challenge. It was nice to use my own layout to see what I could create. She looks rather yellow though, I think I had the wrong lighting when I took the picture.

I should go, the little ones will be up soon, ready to go visit "Grandma without the dogs" today. Oh and my 4 3/4 year old wishes everyone a Happy "Dindon" day. (She cracks me up!)

Have a great day, and I have to say that I am grateful to all friends and family in my life. Thanks to all of you, you make life so enjoyable.

Hugs,

Tanya

Hannah the Witch meets Mojo Monday 107

Here is my creation for Mojo Monday Week 107. I had to try paper piecing her dress, and I think she turned out rather pretty. Instead of stitching this card, I took out my Sakura pens and doodled around the border. I finally got to use my chunky glitter for her hat brim. Yeah, it was so fun. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my other creations.

Hannah is one of the new Pixie Cottage Stamps available here, and the Design Team is being put to work. Please drop by their blog to see what they have been up to.

Hugs,

Tanya

Krafting Outside my Comfort Zone

Hello,

My friend Sheena, pointed out a wonderful promotion over at 2 Sketches 4 You, Starving Artistamps are offering a 25% discount. While I was there, I spotted Laura's Sketch #36. I just LOVE sketches, so I printed it out.

I had stamped this image of the house ages ago, a borrowed stamp. So I decided to put it to use and apply it to Laura's sketch. I coloured it with my Copics, a technique I am still fairly new at, and cut it out with my circle cutter. I popped up the house to give it a 2D feel.

I then scrounged through my embellishment drawer, and came across my Maya Road Stash. I then picked out my paper, and decided I wanted a ruffle effect. The above is the final result.

I don't always know where I am headed with a card. I still don't know if I like this one. But I am posting it anyways. It kind of reminds of some of the ones I see in the Papercrafts magazines. They usually have this feel to them.

I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday,

Hugs,

Tanya

P.S If any of you are wondering why I use a K for the word Krafting, it is because my daughters name is Karlye, not your typical spelling. So I just had to incorporate that into my blog as she is one of my biggest fans.

WOJ Challenge #50

Good evening,

I almost did not get this one posted. I fell asleep reading stories to my girls. We read "Goldie Locks Has the Chicken Pocks", a really great book as the images are "old school" and as Karlye would say "Nicely Coloured Mommy". She critiques the way people colour the story books. Too Funny!

For this one, I took all the things I did the past week in the various challenges. I distressed, I made my own flowers using a circle punch and bella baubles. I then paper pieced the bench Willow is sitting on. It was fun.

I took the WOJ Challenge #50 sketch and rotated it this time. What a great sketch Rachel. Thank you.

Tomorrow night is parent night in the pool, James and I will take turns joining Karlye and Jayme's swim classes. I don't know if I will get anything done, so a new post may just not happen until Friday or Saturday at best.

Take care,

Tanya

Have a wonderful day,

Working on my Christmas Cards, How about you?

Good Evening Ladies,

How lucky are we to have the internet! I was looking at some of your posts, and came across The Sugar Bowl Challenge Blog. They provided a sketch (thank you Gayle), which really helps me get started. Then they asked to add paper piecing to it, which they described as "dressing your stamped image using patterned paper".

The above card is what I came up with. I used the red striped patterned paper for the ribbons and her dress. It was so fun! I think I am going to have to try it with Hannah the Witch, using the orange bat paper as her dress!

I do want to say thank you to all who have left such wonderful stories about Halloween, and those of you who have said hello to me. I hope to eventually have some time to visit each of your blogs to see your wonderful pieces of art.

Hugs to you all,

Tanya :)

Happy Birthday Lauren

My nieces birthday is on Tuesday, and I was going to give her the first Manga card I made, but I thought I would redo her to have hair the same colour as Lauren's. I have often seen Lauren standing this way too, so I believe it to be a perfect match.

I used Mojo Monday Sketch 106 for this card, all the layers made it a bit more challenging for me. I then added some soft pink ink around the edges to soften it up.

My girls are going crazy at the moment, since the cold weather struck, we have been indoors a bit too much. I think I will get their hats and mitts out, and let them run around outside. Maybe the cool air and exercise will help them wind down.

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, celebrating World Card Making Day. Please drop by tomorrow, for a wonderful Fall treat.

Hugs,

Tanya

I {Heart} Punches

Is it just me, or have their not been some fabulous challenges out there! This one is for the Mystery Monday Challenge over at Club Anya. One Anya/Ian stamp and a minimum of 2 punches were the requirement. No sketch was provided so I came up with my own.

I used three punches and my favorite Rain Anya. I am loving the umbrella!
1) The scallop border punch
2)The oval punch for the pumpkins (Thank you Trina for this idea)
3)The tab punch

To finish the card off, I added some glitter. One can not help feel girly when she uses glitter!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I have a fabulous surprise for everyone on Monday.

Hugs,

Tanya
