For you Aunt Ruth

"God saw u getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered come with me. With tearful eyes, we watched and saw you pass away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest...God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes...the BEST"

XOXO
Tanya
Thank you for your inspiration Aunt Ruth. I love you and I miss you.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #50

Good Morning,

It is time for another Pixie Cottage "Once Upon A Wednesday Challenge.  Challenge #50 will run for two weeks, making it the last one for 2010. Where has the time gone? The sketch for this week is one that I put together for the team. Thank you Katie for using it. The theme for the next 2 weeks is PARTY!

I took out my Basic Grey Jovial paper pad and my two Pixie Cottage Stamps (Winter Mailbox and Hannah With Candle) and got started.  Everything you see on this card, right down to the Copic Markers, were purchased at Michelle's Scrapbooking and MoreShe has such pretty products in her store, be sure to drop in and take a peek.

To add a bit of sparkle and shimmer, I placed some Tim Holtz Rock Candy over the snow bits on the tree, and beneath Hannah's feet. I then cut out and popped up the star placing a rhinestone in the center.  I played around with the ribbon, and finally decided on this half-loop, sticking some pins in it to finish off the card.

I wish all of you a Merry Christmas.  I have little ones coming over today to decorate a home made Gingerbread house, and then I must wrap up a storm. Both girls are trying to get me to let them open up a gift, but I keep telling them they have to wait, much to their dismay. Last night the Tooth Fairy visited Karlye for the first time, boy was she happy!

Happy Krafting ladies, I look forward to seeing your take on the sketch, and/or the theme.

Hugs
Tanya

Tuesday Takes @ Sketches In Thyme Challenge #5

Good Morning,

Welcome to Tuesday Takes Challenge #5 @ Sketches in Thyme. Our sketch is another fabulous one by Cardabilities.  We are sponsored this month by Charlene's Button Box . You really want to try to win these fabulous hand made clay buttons, they are absolutely gorgeous.

My image is "A Sweet Ice Skater" by Jessica Grundy, a digital Image found at McMahon Five Designs.  She is pretty and very vintage!  I thought she would look fabulous left uncolored with black and creme design paper in the background, what do you think?  I opted to use a bow instead of the flowers because this was a winter scene, and I wanted to be able to display the beautiful clay skate buttons so that your eyes would focus on them. Be sure to check out the other buttons in Charlene's shop, they are just so original.

I know Christmas is just around the corner, but I do hope you get a chance to use this sketch.  I look forward to seeing your creations ladies.

Happy Krafting,

Christmas Card Batches

Good Morning,

Family photos have gone out, teacher's gifts were all delivered. Now I HAVE to get the Christmas cards out. This year I got my girls into making their own Christmas cards. I used Christmas Tree Ruby as their image, and got them to color it in. I then headed over to Staples and photocopied the image. Once I got home, I simply designed an easy layout, and mass produced their cards. Each one wrote their names on the image that they colored, so when they hand them out to their friends and family they can be proud. Karlye is 6, and Jayme is 4, I am truly proud of the effort they took to color in their images. Way to go girls!

Another Mother who I absolutely cherish is Sunghee, you have to take a look HERE. The Play-Doh Santa Sleigh's she made with her son have me saying WOW!

Have a wonderful day today. I am on holidays now and plan to make the most of the time I have with my family.

Hugs,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #49

Good Morning,

It's time for another Once Upon A Wednesday Challenge over at   The Pixie Cottage.   This week we have a super sketch for you to try and the theme is Family and Friends.  As always you can use the sketch and/or the theme, it is left up to you.

I had fun playing with this new Pixie Cottage stamp called "The Stockings Were Hung" by ArTish.  Available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.   When I was younger, my Mom would drive down to Mississauga for Christmas Eve in order to have Christmas Celebrations at my Oma's house in the basement.  She had a real fireplace, and thus the reason I used this image.  It reminds me of my Family.  I sometimes wish life were that simple again, and I am trying to make memories like that for my children.  Hopefully I succeed.

Hope to see you all participate this week.  Please note:  You do not have to use a Pixie Cottage stamp to enter, but it is always very nice to see you use them.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

Sleep well, I hope to do just that.

White On White for Sugar Nellie - Simply Sassy Competition Round 1

White on White, that was the requirements for Sugar Nellie's WOW competition. The only color was to be on the image itself. This Simply Sassy Fairy Tale stamp reminds me of my daughter, so I colored her as such. To jazz up the white cardstock I simply dry embossed it, even the image. A clean looking White on White card for Sugar Nellie.

By entering this challenge you have a shot at winning a Spellbinder Grand Caliber.  Now I am up for that.  This challenge is judged, not a random org.  I believe the last round is voted upon by you.  The rules are HERE, I believe you have one more day to get your entries in.  Good Luck to all. I only have the one Simply Sassy stamp for the time being.  With Christmas around the corner, I have had to be good.  But be sure to check out the Funky Kits shop, the new Simply Sassy line is just amazing!

Enjoy your evening ladies,
Hugs

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #47

Good Morning,

It's time for another Once Upon A Wednesday Pixie Cottage Challenge. This week we have a super sketch for you to try and the theme is Sparkle and Shine! As always you can use the sketch and/or the theme, it is left up to you.  Please note:  You do not have to use a Pixie Cottage stamp to enter, but it is always very nice to see you use them, it actually brings a smile to my face when you do!

You will probably notice that I used this delicious paper in previous posts, but I just love the earthiness of it.  This wonderful new Winter Mailbox Pixie Cottage stamp is a perfect match. You can find it and other Winter stamps at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

I chose to use Sparkly glitter paper to mount the layers of my card.  A little sparkle and shine can go a long way!  The image was colored with my copics, and then I embossed it with enameled embossing powder to make it look like it was snowing. This ended up adding a bit of shine too.  I wanted this card to be a bit rustic, and thus left the barcode on the paper instead of cutting it out.  I mention this because my husbands first question was "Is that suppose to be showing?".  I like doing little odd things like that, I find it adds character to my creations.

I look forward to seeing your creations this week ladies,
Happy Krafing,

Tanya

Tuesday Takes @ Sketch In Thyme Challenge #3

 Good Morning,

Welcome to the new Tuesday Takes Challenge #3 @ Sketches in Thyme. Our sketch is another fabulous one by Cardabilities.  We are sponsored this week by Charlene's Button Box . You really want to try to win these fabulous buttons, when I got mine in the mail I was in awe!  They are absolutely gorgeous, and I am left wanting more.

This was a sweet sketch to work with.  I took out my Basic Grey paper, and mounted it with a touch of Kraft paper. I proceeded to use my scallop punch on Kraft cardstock, and continued with the Kraft theme using it with my stamped Sugar Nellie image.  I just love coloring on it with my Prisma pencils. I tried this out a couple of week ago, and now I hooked.  It is so much fun playing, you never know what you will come up with.

We all need Christmas Cards right about now, so why not try this sketch out, get a card done, and enter it into this weeks challenge.  You end up crossing another one off your list, and will also be entered to win the fabulous handmade clay buttons you see above.

Happy Krafting!  I  hope to see your kreations this week.
Hugs,
Tanya

Karlye's RAK

Good Morning,

This was such a busy weekend! Karlye had a birthday party to attend, and so I went on-line and downloaded a free coloring page. We were allowed to print it out, and we were not selling these so it complies with their usage rules.

She colored the image, and if you look at my close up, she drew her own version of the mushrooms that chase these guys around! I just love her imagination, so much so that I had to do this little post. I put the rest of the card together with her, and she wanted to personalize it with his name. I added the mushroom charm to keep with the theme.

When it came to taking a photograph, I watched her set it up and turn on the lamp in the exact manner that I do. Boy do our children watch us!

Karlye is having a rough time lately, trying to understand and comply with all the new rules in grade 1. She is graduating from little girl, to girl. Which means she has so many people expecting so much from her. I can't wait for vacation time this year, I really need some family down time. We are all feeling it. Hopefully when I show her this post she will beam with pride.

Happy Monday ladies,
Hugs

Birthday Invitations.....They have gone out.

Hello,

December is proving to be very busy indeed! I have 12 Birthday invitations that just got completed. They have been delivered, and now we just wait for the RSVP's.  Karlye is turning 6 and is having a Cooking birthday party this year, and when I saw this darling Baker Kaylee Digital Stamp from Some Odd Girl,  I knew she would be perfect for the invitations.  Funny how her name is so close to my daughters too.

Karlye loves to craft almost as much as I do, every morning while I shower and get ready for work, you can find her at my craft table coloring something.  I got Karlye to color Baker Kaylee, and then I went to the local Staples store and got them to photocopy it.  I picked out the papers and the brads, and went to town putting these invitations together. I hope she has fun, she really needs to be able to let loose, grade 1 has proven to be a big switch for her, all these new rules and expectations.  She is doing well, but now she deserves to celebrate too.  The kids will be making their own pizza and fruit salad, and will then decorate their own cupcakes to bring home.  All that is left to do on my end is to pick out the cake, and put the loot bags together.

One more thing off my to-do list.  Now I must go and tackle some other items on that list.

Have a great evening,
Hugs
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #47

Good Morning,

It is time again for The Pixie Cottage "Once Upon A Wednesday" sketch and/or theme challenge.  The theme this week is Paper Piecing, and the sketch above is the one we are using for this weeks challenge #47.

I reversed the sketch this week, and between you and me, it was because creating that angled piece of plaid paper was such a challenge for me. When I finally got it looking right, I realized it was backwards, and thus adapted the rest of the sketch to make it a mirror image. My darling stamp,is none other than The Pixie Cottage South End Girl.  She is one of my absolute favorite PC stamps, and I more often than not paper piece her dress to match the design paper I am using, as I did with this card.

I took my snowflake embossing folder and embossed the creme oval behind my girl, and then once all the pieces were matted in co-ordinating paper, I wrapped some gold cord around the card and tied a bow.  The snowflake embellishment was a last minute edition.  Silver is usually my choice, but with this plaid paper, the gold just pops out.

This Basic Grey Jovial paper, from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More, is getting alot of use lately.  I am trying to work my way through the 6x6 pad by the time Christmas comes about.  What is not to like about Basic Grey paper!  Be sure to check out Michelle's Store, she carries alot of their paper lines.

Good luck this week ladies, I can not wait to see what you come up with. Remember, you can choose to tackle the sketch and/or the theme. You can also use any image you wish, it is always nice to see you use The Pixie Cottage stamps though.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs
Tanya

Tuesday Take #2 with Sketches In Thyme Cards

Welcome to the second Tuesday Take with Sketches In Thyme Cards! This week we are using this darling sketch by Cardabilities.  In our challenges, we have a weekly winner and top 3 (the top 3 ladies will get a blinkie to display on their blogs). With every challenge, the participants receive an entry for the monthly prize. So if you play all four weeks, you get your name entered in four times.

Delicious Doodles is this months Tuesday Take sponsor. The monthly winner will get a choice of 3 digital images.

For this weeks challenge, I chose to work with the Mother Mary digital stamp.  The image itself is beautiful, so I wanted to be sure to create a card that made your eyes focus on it.  I found this piece of cardboard at work and tore it apart to reveal the corrugated interior.  I then placed it through my Sizzix machine with a die, to give it the flourished edges.  Deciding to use earth tones, as I felt them appropriate for the image,  I printed the image out on textured creme cardstock.   I liked the way the texture of the cardstock made the image soft looking and thus left it uncolored.  The only thing left to do was to add my embellishments, and using matching papers, I took out my spellbinders and created the hearts.

I really hope to see you particitpate this week.  The prize is yummy, and this fantabulous sketch really has potential for some outstanding work by you ladies.

Happy Krafting ladies,
Hugs,
Tanya

Having fun with Sparkle Creations

Hello,

I was so excited when I saw the challenge go up at the Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamp Blog. Challenge #20 is all about using Kraft supplies. I just LOVE Kraft paper, it totally rocks as far as I am concerned. I also tried something new by coloring and blending my Prisma Color pencils on the Kraft cardstock. I am in love with the way the colors just pop out. Suitcase Ruby is amongst my favorite Sparkle stamp, she is versatile, and always on the go. A busy girl such as myself.

I also wanted to let you all know about the Sketches In Thyme "Open Sketch Challenges". Every 3rd Thursday, anyone who followed a sketch or created their own can enter this challenge. All you have to do is post the project along with the sketch you followed and link it to the Sketches In Thyme Blog. Even if it is from another design challenge, it qualifies. And thus you qualify to win the monthly prizes too.  My card was put together using Marlene's Sketch from The Sugar Bowl . I rotated the sketch and slid the 3 bullets onto the image portion on my card.

I hope you all have a great weekend, I have yet another busy one; dance class with the girls, birthday party gifts to be bought, and a Christmas Party for the girls on Sunday.

Happy Krafting and Happy Thanksgiving to all my USA friends.

Hugs,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #46

Good Morning!

It's time for another Once Upon A Wednesday Pixie Cottage Challenge. This week we have a super sketch for you to try and the theme is Let It Snow! As always you can use the sketch and/or the theme, it is left up to you.  Please note:  You do not have to use a Pixie Cottage stamp to enter, but it is always very nice to see you use them, it actually brings a smile to my face when you do!

I used this scrumptious Basic Grey paper  and this wonderful Sweet Treat Pixie Cottage Stamp that I received from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.  She keeps getting more stock as each day passes, so be sure to drop in and see what delicious newness she is posting.

I tried to match the colors from the snowmen paper to the colors in the image.  Once I colored the image in, I took a Sizzix embossing folder and added texture to it, trying to emulate a snowstorm.  It was my first time attempting this technique, and I think I will do it again.  Instead of flowers, I took matching design paper, punched out snowflakes, embossed them with kaleidoscope powder, and placed them on my card.  Putting a "Make your Own Brad" in one of the centers.

What you do you think?  Criticism is always appreciated, as I love learning.

Happy Krafting ladies,  this is a wonderful challenge to get another Christmas Card done.  Hope to see you enter.

Hugs,
Tanya

Got My Fingers in The Sugar Bowl Again.........

Good Evening,

The Sugar Bowl Challenge #48 is asking us to use Marlene's Sketch. The subject is Black and White + one other color of choice. I chose red. I follow The Sugar Bowl Blog regularly, and they have been making some HUGE changes. As a result, and by leaving comments along the way about their FAB new stamps, I won this adorable stamp called Fairy Tale. Thanks Mark for sending her out so fast! She was so adorable that I just had to ink her up pronto!

I did not want to overdo this image, I stopped after coloring in her dress, lips, and shoes. She is simply adorable. This card came together all by itself. I chose the papers and started placing them as indicated in the sketch (which I rotated). Once the papers were down, I noticed the writing along the side that stated "Beautiful Woman". Upon reading this, I thought it perfect for the image. Funny how things like that work out, without trying. This card will be for my Mother's birthday in December. She is a beautiful woman!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. We have the Santa Clause Parade on Sunday evening, and the rest of the weekend will be searching for the Christmas decorations. We won't put them up just yet, but the girls like to look at them.

Happy Krafting ladies,
Hugs
Tanya

I am entering this into :

Sketches In Thyme #24

Good Morning,

This week, Sketches In Thyme Challenge #24 has provided us with a wonderful sketch by Creative Scrappers.  This one was great for my 5x7 photo.  I will have to duplicate this one for my girls.

It is so rare for me to be in a picture with them as I am usually the one behind the camera.  I made a point of asking my husband to snap this photo after a day outside in the sun.  Hence the healthy glows, the happy smiles, and the tussled up hair.  I live for my two girls, they are so unique, and this picture captures the happiness I have in my heart for them.  I just hope I provide the same happiness for them.

I am sad to announce this will be my last post as a scrapbook Maven for Sketches In Thyme, however, the good news is I will be a  card Maven for the NEW Sketches In Thyme Cards design team.  I have really enjoyed all the layouts I have been getting done, thanks Kim for giving me the chance to expand my creativity.

Congratulations goes out to the New Scrapbooking Mavens;

Joni Parker
Libeeti
Tiffany Call
Erin Reed
Vanessa De Bonis
Lizaveta

 And let us not forget to Congratulate the New Card Mavens;

Sketches In Thyme Cards will kick off  on Tuesday, November 23!!!!  Be sure to head over and try out the sketches.  Kim has many sponsors lined up, and the prizes are sure to be fabulous!

Happy Krafting, and good luck with this weeks challenge.  There is a Michaels $25 gift certificate to be won!

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #45

Good Morning,

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #45 provides you with another marvelous sketch and a Ribbons and Bows theme. You have the option to use the theme and/or the sketch.

I was lucky enough to receive this marvelous NEW stamp "Hannah's Letter by Sandra Hammer",  and the wonderful new Basic Grey Jovial paper in the mail recently.  Both are available for purchase at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.  There is so much detail in this red rubber stamp.  Hannah is such a sweet image to work with, I always enjoy inking her up and adding color to her.

I switched up the flowers in the sketch and opted for the fabulous button I found in my stash.  To balance it out I added some Bella Bauble's.  I wanted the green to stand out, and so I colored most of the image green.  To make the snow on the branches stand out, I used some white Fun Flock.

What are you going to choose this week?  The theme, the image, or both?  Whatever you decide, I look forward to being inspired.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #44

Good Morning,

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #44  provides you with a sketch/theme challenge this week.  The sketch is a team sketch shown above, and the theme is to use 2 colors onlyNote - you can choose to tackle the theme, the sketch or both.  You are also not required to use a Pixie Cottage stamp to participate in The Pixie Cottage Challenges, and by entering your creation, you will still be eligible to win some of the fab prizes up for grabs.

This card was a breeze to make, I simply stamped the bird onto creme cardstock, chose my design papers, then embellished as per the fab team sketch. For my flowers,  I stamped them with a music sheet stamp, then stuck the black pearls in the center. It was nice not to color for a change.  I have to say I love how bold this turned out. This sketch is definetly being kept in my archives, it is one of my favorites.

The wonderful stamp I used is a NEW Pixie Cottage stamp from the Bird set stamps by ArTish.  I also have to point out the Spellbinder's Nestabilities Eyelet Square die that the bird is stamped on .  The stamp and the Spellbinder Die is available from Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.  Don't forget, if you want something and don't see it in her store, be sure to send her an email, she is very good at getting in supplies that you need.

I can't wait to see what 2 colors you choose to use this week. Happy Krafting!
Hugs,
Tanya

Got My Fingers in The Sugar Bowl Again.........

Good Evening,

Here is my take on The Sugar Bowl Challenge #47. The theme was ribbon and bows, my darling Manga has a bow in her hair, and my ribbon is attached to the tag. I have to say this is not my favorite paper and the resulting card is interesting, but I am not in love with it. I do however have good feelings about how the Copic Coloring turned out. I was having a good marker night, finally. I do hope our niece likes her birthday card, she is turning 8 this month.

Well, off to bed I go. I was up late last night, and I should try to catch up tonight.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

Sketches In Thyme Challenge #22

Good Morning,

This weeks Sketches In Thyme Challenge#22  has us using a wonderful sketch created by our very own Maven Diana. I really had fun with this one too.

For the past 2 years, my girls have been dancing in recitals.  I was leery at first about the makeup and not wanting to become a pageant Mom.  But I have to say, they know that the makeup is for the recital day only, or for dress-up.  They have a blast getting ready, and I am absolutely shocked that they go on stage and actually perform!  I would be terrified to do that.  Seeing their happy faces reminds me why I sit in the small parent lobby every Saturday morning while they dance.

I added the yellow frame and matted the photos with a tad bit of yellow because in the photo, my yellow tulips show quite nicely.  I took one 4x6 photo and cut it into 3 to make the trio of images, and to have your eye focus in on my Jimmer Jam!  She certainly loves getting into character.  In fact I am washing a shirt as I write this because it has a squirrel on it, and she wants to go to school as a squirrel tomorrow.

Have a great day, and I really hope you try Diana's sketch this week.  If you do, you will be entered into the draw for the Michaels coupon.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya

P.S.  I apologize for the snapshot of this layout, it has been overcast, so the creme 12x12 cardstock this is created on looks half white and half creme.  I have yet to master the art of taking a photo of a completed layout!
