Another Rainy Day and a Rainbow

I actually saw a rainbow as I was coming home on the bus, so I had to incorporate that into my card. It has rained the past three days here, which is not such a bad thing, as it makes my hair curly. I used FFF Sketch by Cindy for this one. I enjoyed distressing it, but the mess I made! I even stitched the fiber onto the card by hand.

I have put a "teal" prisma pencil on my "Things to buy" list as my pencils could not match the cardstock, as long as we ignore the old saying "Blue and green should never be seen", all will be well ;)

Have a good evening everyone,

Hugs,
Tanya

A Rainy Fall Sunday and a WOJ Challenge

It is raining here today, and a bit cold. The good thing is that it is my DH's birthday, so we have something to celebrate. It will be a good day.

Here is what I came up with for the WOJ Challenge #49. They had us use 6 brads, 2 flowers, and 3 design papers. If you look closely I used my SU "build a brad" set to make 4 of the brads using the DP. The other two brads are the centers of the flowers. The cloud paper, the pumpkin paper, and the trim make up the 3 DP's. Although the top and bottom paper have the same grid, they are not from the same sheet. I can not remember the company who manufactured this paper, as I bought it pre-cut in a miscellaneous pack. I will have to find out though because it is such delicious paper! I want more of it.

I tried to make Willow look like she was sitting on the pumpkin stem, she is just so pretty. I have lots to be Thankful for, so I used that WOJ sentiment to finish off the card.

Have a great Sunday, and I hope everyone's week starts out wonderfully.

Hugs to you all,

Tanya

Winter Prelude and a Thank You

Although this was posted Friday, I am editing it to urge you all to hop over to A Spoon Full of Sugar. They would like you to post your Christmas creations. How Fun!

Thank You to all who left such wonderful comments yesterday, you have really picked up my spirits. What a wonderful bunch of women you all are.

I will announce the person I am sending the card to on October 1st, 2009. Not to worry though, I have others in my collection so every now and then you may be asked for your snail mail address so that I can send one out to you.

Here is a card I put together using my Fun Flock for the first time. ( I purchased it over year ago!) Miss Anya sure is pretty. I find shading blond hair really difficult. Do any of you have any hints on how to improve?

Have a Wonderful Friday,

Tanya :)

P.S. My eldest daughter decided to tell me all about what she does in SK. I feel so special as she always keeps it "private". It has indeed been a better day.

Would you like to get a card in the mail?

Hello,

I am not feeling well today. Do any of you ever feel like a small fish in a big pond? That is how I feel today. "This too shall pass", but until then I think I am going to go for a nap.

I used my Bisous PDQ paper pack and chipboard for this one, and I love the tree and the birds. Jenni Bowlin's Crepe paper ribbon is wonderful to use. I decided to decorate the inside as well, and then I will send it out in the mail to brighten someone's day.

If anyone is interested in getting a card in the mail, simply leave me your snail mail address, become one of my followers, and I will do just that. If I get more than one person who is interested, I will pull names, contact you and post it in the mail October 5th, 2009.

Have a great Wednesday,

Tanya

Get Well Riet

I have been really fortunate to have nice people leave comments on my blog, and thus have been guided over to view their blog. Riet is one of those ladies. I read a post recently on her blog written by her daughter. Riet is sick, so I made this card for her, and will post it snail mail tomorrow. I do hope she gets better, and that this bright card helps put a smile on her face.

I used Mojo Monday week 105 as the sketch for this card, and I used Farm Fresh Friday for the embossing idea. I used my Sakura pens for faux stitching, and the ink dried raised. I have to admit I had a hard time piecing this together. I then decided to make a red cross embellishment. I don't like my writing, so this was a challenge for me to actually put pen to paper. Oh well, we all have to do things we do not necessarily like.

Have a good Wednesday everyone,

Tanya

I'm loving the New Manga's!

A wonderful sketch by Marlene over at The Sugar Bowl blogspot. They were asking us to use a Sugar Nellie stamp, Marlene's Sketch, and the colours Pink and Brown (a fave of mine). It was just the incentive I needed to use my new Manga stamps.

Last night we had to put our "parent's hat" on with our eldest daughter. It was really hard, she is almost 5 and we are having to teach her about boundaries, and proper ways to show her anger. One that does not include hitting or scratching her sister. We had to stick to our decision of bed without stories as a result, to try to teach her consequences of her actions. It was a really hard thing to do. Of course my husband sat with her until she stopped crying and fell asleep, reminding her that we still love her but that hitting is not ok.

After that we were both pretty emotionally drained, but getting to colour my Manga girl and going to bed early helped with that. Today has started off much better. Lot's of smiles to be had on all our behalf.

Have a great Sunday,

Tanya

A Doozy of a sketch! WOJ #48

WOW, The layers on this sketch. It proved to be a bit more difficult than I anticipated. But it was fun, and worth it. I decided not to stitch on this one as the paper patterns were busy enough.

You too can participate in this challenge over at the Whiff of Joy Challenge page. Why not give it a try!

Enjoy your weekend ladies.

Hugs,

Tanya

Paper Passion for Mojo Monday 104

My rule of thumb now is I have to use it before I buy anything new! So I am madly trying to use my stash that is lying around because it is "too pretty" to use. Can anyone relate?

This card will be making it's way to my Dad in Colorado. I find it turned out quite handsome looking. I think my Dad will like it, just as much as I enjoyed making it.

Have a great day,

Tanya

Happy Birthday using Starving Artistamp's September Sketch

My husband promised he would not look at my blog until his birthday because I told him I was posting this card. I hope he keeps his word, he has one more week, but I just had to post this.

Starving Artistamps has a September sketch challenge, and I used my robots and the phrases from the DoodleFactory to create this card.... I had a "blast" making it (pardon the pun). I hand stitched the frame and just let my creativity guide me. I used acetate over the window in the rocket to make it look like glass. They have such wonderful stamps, I always enjoy making cards with them.

My daughter got off the bus on Monday and asked the daycare provider "How many days until the weekend?" This was only her second full day of school for the 2009-2010 year. She loves her friends at school, but much prefers the easy summer days of not rushing in the morning. So to everyone who is in the same mind frame as my daughter, tomorrow is Wednesday, and we are half way to there to our weekend.

Teal and Orange Whiff of Joy Challenge #47

I am using reverse psychology today. If I craft using fall colours then perhaps Fall will delay it's visit to us Canadians. I am so enjoying this warm sunny weather!

Ok, the real reason I am using these colours is because WOJ challenged us to do so this week. I have to say they look nice together, I would never have thought to put these two together. So I am sending out a "Thank You Whiff of Joy".

Have a great weekend, we are going to a wedding tonight, and as work, school, dance classes, swimming etc have all started at once, I may not have a post for you until mid next week.

A Wedding and CPS Sketch 132

I was surfing again, and I landed on the CPS site. I had to make a wedding card, and I have no wedding stamps, as all my friends have already been married. So I used their sketch and came up with this card, which works wonderfully for a money holder card.

The colour scheme was used as a result of WOJ's Challenge # 47. As shown in my next post.

Have a great Saturday,

Tanya

Summer Willow and Mojo Monday 103

One more day and it's Friday! Yippee, I am almost done the "needing to be in two places at once" week.

Here is my take on Mojo Mondays Challenge 103. I turned it sideways and changed the sketch up a bit. I always thought you had to create the cards to match the sketch exactly. But from what I have read, they are just a guideline for our creativity.

I hope you like summer Willow, I think she looks very serene. The strawberries are from that summer set as well, available at Whiff of Joy. I added dimension to them by using my Sakura green gel pens to puff up the seeds. This was really fun to make. I just love red lately.

Have a great evening,

Tanya

Whiff of Joy Challenge #46

Good Morning,

We are off to the Perth Fair today, but I thought I would post this now, as it will be a very busy day. Whiff of Joy Challenge #46 was all about a sketch, so I got out my paper, and this is my take on it.

I tried to make Willow look soft. I hope I succeeded. My 3 year old has claimed this card, so much for building up a supply for future birthdays and such :)

Have a wonderful Sunday,

Tanya

P.S Please drop by the WOJ blog, there is a little girls who needs some love in order to recover, and if you could send her a card, it would help.

Whiff of Joy Guest Designer Call & Mojo Monday Week 102

Good Evening,

I have been itching to use the Fall 2009 WOJ stamps, so I took the Mojo Monday Week 102 sketch, and here is my first card with Fall Willow. I was going to pop her up but I think she looks fabulous flat, so I left her. She looks like she is enjoying catching leaves. I have to say I am a bit sad tonight, and I have no idea why. I think a movie and some cuddles from my husband will pick me up a bit.

Please take a look at the Whiff of Joy blog, Katharina is looking for a guest designer. She is a wonderful and kind woman, and I think you would all enjoy the chance to work with her. Good luck everyone, happy crafting!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hugs,

Tanya

Simple Christmas Card

Here is another Christmas card as I am trying to get done early this year. I am sorry the image is not that bright, my battery has been low. This was a really simple stamp, so I popped up the hat and scarf, and added some Crystal Effects to the snow flakes to add a bit of dimension to it.

Check out Moxie Fab World for all the latest Christmas challenges. It may get you singing Christmas Carols in September!

See you all tomorrow,

Tanya

WOJ Challenge #45- BLING

Our mission was to use some bling, and use a Whiff of Joy stamp. I needed a box for a gift card, so I surfed the resources over at Splitcoaststampers for some ideas. You can find the tutorial for this box, which only uses one 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper HERE.

The orange in the background is my bling, I used a glue design from Pebbles Inc and then sprinkled it with glitter.

Take a look at what the other Whiff of Joy fanatics came up with. You are sure to get a nice dose of eye candy.

Have a great day,

Tanya
